Twenty years is a good stretch in the music biz but damn it goes fast. It was two decades ago that Jamie Hutchings and Bluebottle Kiss released their debut album Higher Up The Firetrails. To celebrate two decades of fertile musical exploration with BBK, as a solo artist and more recently with Infinity Broke Hutchings is heading out on the aptly titled Careering Through The Wilderness 1995-2015 tour.

Drawing from six Bluebottle Kiss albums, three solo albums and two Infinity Broke albums Hutchings will be delving into the corners of his back catalogue in solo mode. Things kicked off in QLD on the weekend and head down to VIC this weekend and then onto NSW.

The second Infinity Broke album Before Before is out soon.

NEWS: Jep and Dep announce debut album, tour and new single

a1493848419_10

Sydney duo Jep and Dep have had quite the year beginning with an opening slot before Johnny Marr before going on to play shows with Matt Walker, Mia Dyson, Hatz Fitz and Cara, Kristen Hersh, Raised by Eagles, Tracey McNeil Band and Lindi Ortega as well as their own headline gigs across nearly every reputable venue in Sydney and other parts of the country.

Over at our Americana blog Post To Wire we said of the pair:

They’re a dark, folk-noir Johnny and June with a sound that might cast them serenading a saloon in a David Lynch directed spaghetti western.

Their first single was the mesmerising ‘Babe Come Down’ and now, ahead of the release of their debut LP Word Got Out on October 23rd, they’ve released the clip for new single ‘Granted’. The song is another gem, building swirling  romantic tension akin to Cave and Minogue before rich widescreen strings and cymbals swoon into view with grand elegance.

Wellington, NZ band The Golden Awesome are heading to Melbourne for a handful of shows in October after they support Beach Fossils in their hometown later this month. If you’re a fan of dense, layered hypnotic rock music then you’ll want to get along and check them out. They continue the same psych lineage of bands like MBV, Lush, Ride and JAMC while also tipping their stylistic hat to New Zealand acts like Snapper (who they supported earlier in 2013) and Bailter Space. With a 2011 album Autumn under their belt the quartet have just released a video clip for the excellent title track.

23 September – Bodega, Wellington (w/ Beach Fossils)
10 October – Public Bar, Melbourne (w/ Encounter Group)
