NEW MUSIC from rapid-fire Perth punks Last Quokka

Metronomic mayhem abounds on this latest single from West Australian group Last Quokka. A killer stop-start bass sound kicks things off before the rest of the band lock and load. There’s a jerk and wired aesthetic to ‘Cue‘ that contrasts perfectly with the moments where the ripping guitar chords and electrically charged riffs gatecrash the track. You can hear Parquet Courts and Eddy Current Suppression Ring in the way they bring a musical nous and intelligence to punk rock primitivism.

The band self-describe the track as Amyl And The Sniffers crossed with Idles and a bit of Midnight Oil and they pretty much nail it. Since 2016 they’ve supported Gang of Four, Mclusky and The Meanies, as well as touring throughout Australia and South-East Asia and playing festivals such as Camp Doogs, In The Pines and Perth Fringe Festival.

In April, 2022 Last Quokka will be touring the east coast of Australia.
