NEW MUSIC: New Order – Restless

Fresh off the internet superhighway, here’s the brand new single from New Order and straight off the bat it sounds better than anything they’ve done for years. That melancholic pop streak is there. Bernard Sumner’s trademark guitar riff is intact and he’s singing within the music instead of trying to be a rock singer. Nice stuff.

The new album Music Complete is out September 25th on Mute.

NEWS: Depeche Mode’s Martin Gore announces new solo LP

MG-MG

As soon as Martin Gore wound up touring duties with Depeche Mode in March 2013 he set about working on his first solo album of instrumentals. Under the name MG (following his duo release VCMG with Vince Clarke) he will release MG on April 28th via Mute. Below you can stream the track ‘Europa Hymn’ which combines a cinematic mood with kosmiche synth vibes.

“I wanted to keep the music very electronic, very filmic, and give it an almost sci-fi like quality. Music is a necessity for me. I go into the studio at least five days a week, every week, so once I had the idea and the template, the process was quick and fun.”

After three excellent albums in Conatus, Stridulum II and The Spoils, Zola Jesus has announced her new album Taiga will be out on October 7th via Mute. Below you can stream the first single ‘Dangerous Days’.

In regards to the album title, Nika explains, “Taiga is the Russian name for the boreal forest. For me it feels very alive… very expansive. It represents a feral, untapped world that could happily exist without us. There are taiga forests in Northern Wisconsin where I was raised, and also in Russia where my ancestors are from, so it also feels very native.”
