INTERVIEW: Before Last Night…

Purple Sneakers are currently running their weekly Last Night at The Gaelic and we’re taking the opportunity to hook up with one of the headliners each week for a quick chat. This week it is those Brisbane miscreants DZ Deathrays who will be performing alongside King Cannons, DJs from Red Riders, Jane Gazzo and of course the Purple Sneakers DJs…

Do any of you have any pre-gig rituals?

Not really, we kinda just stand awkwardly near the stage, sometimes I’ll do a shot of tequila but usually we’re pretty slack for the whole rituals sort of thing.

In 12 months time, what do you hope to have achieved musically?

Put out our debut album!

If you could curate Last Night, who would be your dream line-up?

I would just put a table on the stage and get 1990’s Robert Downy Jnr, 1980’s Tim Allen and current Charlie Sheen to all sit at it and watch them get loose and what the hell, Nirvana can play on the side of the stage too.

The last song you wrote, what is it about?

I don’t even really know…. I don’t even know if Shane really knows?

Recording/Touring – if you had to choose one which would it be?

Touring for sure! Nothing worse than being stuck in a room playing the same songs over and over to each other. Its way more fun travelling with friends and meeting people.

Which Australian artist/band is setting the standard at the moment?

My Disco
