OPINION: GUNS N ROSES

gnr

Back in 1988 I was a 16 year old youth with testosterone running through my veins, pimples on my face and the world ahead of me. After being raised on New Wave and Synth Pop I was ready for something new and exciting and GnR filled that void. Danger was back in music, there was a new gang in town and they destroyed the vacuous pop and poodle rock of the time. Axl was lean, whiney and full of attitude, Slash was slouched in debauchery, Steven ‘Popcorn’ Adler was all grins, Duff brought the punk aesthetic and Izzy was the rhythm behind the madness. Over the top and of their time, this clip from their Live At The Ritz show changed my life in some small way and seems the only valid response to the Chinese Democracy circus…
