NEWS: THE SCARE split…

Sadly Australia’s The Scare have decided to call it quits after 2 albums, successful UK tours and a ton of local incendiary live shows.

At their best they were a muscular, belligerent sounding group that swung madly between swamp rock, gothic drama and straight up rock. They believed they could take on the world and gave it their all. Their album Oozevoodoo was among the better Australian releases of 2009. At the time we said:

Post punk guitars often pick out simple coruscating riffs that buzz and moan but never descend into untamed noise.

Many bands would secretly love to be able to cut loose and indulge is such big bold sounds. That lack of fear on Oozevoodoo is ultimately what will ensure its success.

The Scare were:

Kiss Reid – vocals
Liam O’Brien – guitar
Brock Fitzgerald – guitar
Wade Keighran – bass
Sam Pearton – drums
