The news is out on the lineup for 2009’s Splendour In The Grass (see HERE) but one of the biggest surprises is that the original lineup of Jane’s Addiction will play and hopefully do sideshows in other cities.

The original lineup featuring bassist Eric Avery reformed for some small LA club shows in 2008 and have since joined forces with NIN for a Nth America tour and some recording sessions which didn’t go as well as planned.

“If my band didn’t have issues, if they didn’t throw tantrums, I would think I was with a bunch of suckers. As long as they can handle it, I can handle it. After all we’re just delivering music that people love, so how bad can it be? It could be worse. We could be drafted.” said Perry Farrell in an interview with Reuters.

Avery is of course the missing link for the band that reformed in 1997 and 2001 with different bassists (Flea, Martyn LeNoble, Chris Chaney). Avery was a key songwriter in the band, responsible for many of the distinct bass lines such as Three Days and Mountain Song.

Keep an eye out for the sideshow announcements!
